The Dead Walk Again [Oct. 17th, 2011|08:04 am]

I thought last night's season premiere of AMC's The Walking Dead was pretty amazing. Those first twenty minutes alone were some of the most harrowing I've ever seen on TV.

Between this and FX's American Horror Story, I feel like we're in the midst of a horror TV renaissance.

I recently switched from cable to satelite and I finally have AMC. But after seeing Darabont was let go, I'm wondering if the quality of the show will be up to what it was last season, and therefore if I should bother getting into it. I was anxious and excited when it finally came out on DVD, and almost bought it before hearing about Darabont and how some of cast and crew were worried the show wouldn't last long without him, so I haven't bought the first season yet for fear of getting hooked on a really great season one only to have it turn to shit with the second season, and then be cancelled soon after.

Thoughts?

My initial thought is that you're making this far more complicated for yourself than it needs to be! Just rent the first season instead of buying it and see if you like it.

Aside from that, I think what they did to Darabont was shitty, but this first episode of the season didn't reflect a drop in quality. In fact, I think it might even have been a step up last season. We'll see how things play out. But yeah, the Darabont thing shook me up this summer.
