Let me set the record straight. This is not the case. Not only is ChiZine Publications doing fine, but it is not and never has been a subsidiary or affiliate of Dorchester. The confusion may stem from the fact that ChiZine.com, the publishing company's sister webzine, was sponsored by Leisure, an imprint of Dorchester, for a number of years. Now, with Dorchester's current financial problems, that sponsorship is gone. But ChiZine.com existed long before Leisure's sponsorship, and I have no doubt it will continue to thrive after it. (CZP co-publisher Sandra Kasturi assures me the next issue will be up on October 1, as planned.)
Another possible reason for the confusion is that ChiZine Publications participated in the "Fresh Blood" contest with Leisure. I'm told they're still planning to publish the winning novel as a limited edition, signed hardcover. However, at this time, no one seems sure what Leisure will do about holding up their end of the bargain. They were originally supposed to publish the winning novel in mass market paperback, but with Dorchester circling the drain, who knows?
So what this means is that Chasing the Dragon and all your other favorite ChiZine Publications titles are still available and aren't going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, neither is ChiZine Publications.
But this is what happens when people rush to their social networking media outlets to flap their lips about things they know nothing about. At least do your research first, folks. Otherwise, like this person, you're just a Twit.
