As Women in Horror Month draws to an end, I've got a piece up on Rue Morgue's website celebrating one of my favorite women in horror films, and one of the genre's first Final Girl fake-outs: Annie from the original Friday the 13th.
That '80s Farrah hairdo. That amazing backpack (Caldor, I assume?). The way she always wanted to work with children (not kids because, you know, goats). How could I not have fallen for her right away? The essay is a valentine of sorts to Annie, and the actress who played her, Robbi Morgan, because in some ways she affected me more than any other woman in horror cinema.
