International Bon Vivant and Raconteur
Ringer, the CW's new emo-music-and-montage drama series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar as twins with secrets, premiered Tuesday night to strong ratings. I, on the other hand, gave up about fifteen minutes in.
Truth be told, it wasn't that bad. The pilot was well made (although the green screen on the boat was like a hilarious throwback to 1950s movies), the dialogue wasn't too atrocious, and it's always nice to see Gellar again, but it committed a cardinal sin. It couldn't make me care. At all. I had nothing invested in any of the characters, and the thought of watching this snoozefest for forty-five more minutes just to see how the rest of the episode played out seemed like a waste of time that could be better spent, I don't know, clipping my nails or something.
I just did not care. It's early in the game yet, and your faithful TV Nerd has already announced his first DVR schedule casualty. Let's hope this isn't an omen for how the rest of the new TV season shapes up.
