Three Things About This Year's Valentine's Day [Feb. 14th, 2011|09:22 am]
International Bon Vivant and Raconteur
1) As longtime readers of this blog know, I've always loved Valentine's Day, even when I wasn't dating anyone. I get all goofy around the idea of a day devoted to romance and love, and frankly I don't care if it's a bastardized Christian holiday or an invention of the Hallmark marketing department. We could all stand to devote a little more time and thought to love. Love of others, and love of ourselves. So happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Married or single, dating or not, you deserve a nice day of warm and squishy feelings.

2) By coincidence, today also marks six months since I stopped smoking. So that's some big self-love right there! I still feel great and only miss the ciggies on rare occasions. Savings so far: roughly $1,250.

3) ChiZine Publications is quickly becoming known for its holiday-themed sales, and Valentine's Day is no exception. Today only, they're giving away free eBooks all about love...twisted, unhealthy, gonzo love: Claude Lalumière’s Objects of Worship and David Nickle's Monstrous Affections. You can find all the details here. And remember, this contest only lasts until at midnight tonight, Eastern time, so get a move on!

Spambots [Feb. 14th, 2011|11:28 pm]
International Bon Vivant and Raconteur
I'm getting really sick of the random Spambot comments I've been getting recently. It's been at least one a day for months now. At least.

So I'm sorry to say I'm disallowing anonymous user comments at this time. Anyone with a LiveJournal account will still be able to comment, as will those with Facebook and Twitter accounts, and those who can use OpenID, but everyone else won't be able to comment anymore. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but I hope you understand.

Hopefully this will rectify the problem until LiveJournal figures out how to stop the Spambots, and will not have to be a permanent solution.
