$#*! My Dad Says

I feel like I don't have the words to properly describe just how terrible last night's series premiere of $#*! My Dad Says is. I knew going into it that advance buzz was awful, but I had a bad case of Shatneritis and wanted to see for myself. Boy was that a mistake.

The comedy was tired. There was zero chemistry between Shatner and fellow lead Jonathan Sadowski, who plays his son Henry. Worse, Sadowski's acting ability makes Shatner look like Olivier. Will Sasso and Nicole Sullivan, both MadTV alums who know their way around comedy, do the best they can as Henry's brother Vince and sister-in-law Bonnie, but the material is so weak, so frustratingly safe and mediocre, that every joke falls flat.

I can't believe sitcom legend James Burrows directed the episode. He should know better. I was ready to turn it off by the first commercial break, but I stuck with it until the bitter end. I really need to stop doing that.

The TV Nerd urges you to avoid $#*! My Dad Says. It's my first choice for being put out of its misery early cancellation.
