International Bon Vivant and Raconteur
I've been dying to see Bitch Slap ever since I saw the awesome and hilarious trailer online back in 2008. After being delayed for a couple of years, it's finally out on DVD. The movie is everything you thought it would be from the trailer--constant cleavage shots, explosions, tons of Zoe Bell-choreographed fight scenes, ridiculous one-liners, gratuitous water fights, completely unnecessary lesbian sex scenes (though, unexpectedly, no nudity)--but it's also a hell of a lot of fun.
Don't look for good acting, and there's nothing terribly original to be found here. The movie riffs blatantly and knowingly on everything from Kill Bill to The Usual Suspects to Memento, but at least it also has cameos by Kevin Sorbo, Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor. (When Kevin Sorbo turns in the best performance of the film, you know it's got issues).
It's probably not to everyone's taste, but if you're in the mood for trashy fun, Bitch Slap is just what the doctor ordered.
