Post-Valentine's Post

I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Day, regardless of your current dating status!

The girlfriend and I had a wonderful weekend together. We baked brownies from scratch for a friend's birthday; went to Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in Times Square to hobnob with wax celebrities and get scared in their "live actors" haunted house even though all the actors had already gone home for the night; stayed over in Times Square at the fabulous Belvedere Hotel (thank you, Hotwire.com!) where the bed was the size of Texas but much softer; took a trip to the Mysterious Bookshop downtown the next morning; and saw the awesome Danish thriller Terribly Happy (a take on the "big city cop with a fractured past comes to a small town with a dark secret" cliché that brilliantly upends said cliché) at the Angelika Film Center, which is horribly overpriced and one of my least favorite movie theaters in the city, what with the constant rumble of the subway passing underneath it, but this time I didn't mind.

Also, I ate a metric ton of chocolate!
