|What Happens When Four Authors Read at Barnes & Noble Simultaneously?

Tonight I went to the giganto B&N at Lincoln Center for a big, four-author reading. Much to my dismay, they chose not to all read simultaneously over one another but instead take their turns like civilized people, discuss what inspired their novels and answer questions from the audience.
Actually, it was a lot of fun. The four authors, all published by Dorchester, were Leanna Hieber (The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker), Anna DeStefano (Dark Legacy), Jack Ketchum (Cover) and my Gabriel Hunt cohort, Charles Ardai (Hunt Through the Cradle of Fear). The rather large event room was filled with a great turnout that included Don and Leah from Leisure Books and special surprise guest star realthog.
While we were there, rosefox and sinboy took the opportunity to do a video interview with Charles and me about the Gabriel Hunt series for the PW blog genreville. I'll be sure to let you know when that goes live.
I miss going to events like this. There should be more of them! And now that the Lincoln Center B&N has seen that even paperback original authors can draw crowds and move books, maybe there will be.
