R.I.P. Mr. Bentley [Dec. 5th, 2008|01:59 pm]

Paul Benedict has passed away at the age of 70.

Benedict acted in a ton of stuff, but to me he will always be Mr. Bentley on The Jeffersons, a show I watched religiously in my youth. He wasn't quite my favorite character, in fact I kind of remember rolling my eyes whenever he showed up, but Bentley was iconic to the program, an upper-class, stuffy European foil to George Jefferson's strict intolerance. Especially iconic, actually, because of his appearances in the opening credits scenes, with George walking on his back, or Bentley bursting pantsless through the apartment door to startle Weezie.

Rest in peace, Mr. Bentley. Wherever you are, I hope they have spare pants.
