The Machine Girl

I just watched The Machine Girl tonight, and I loved it. If you like crazy, tongue in cheek, over the top action movies from Japan, I think you'll dig this one. It's about a Japanese schoolgirl, in full school uniform, who has a machine gun for an arm and fights yakuza and ninjas. It's the kind of movie where someone gets hurt and blood sprays out of the wound like it would from a garden hose. It also pays sneaky homage to quite a few Asian actioners from the past, including John Woo movies, Takashi Miike's yakuza films, and Shaw Brothers kung fu fests. Even the flying guillotine makes an appearance!

Frankly, The Machine Girl is everything Grindhouse should have been.
