|A Day for the History Books

I get a lot of spam from writing and publishing scammers. This morning I received one such email from Frugal Fiction, promising ways to "Enhance sales for your self-published/POD properties!" I was going to tear into them here for your schadenfreude enjoyment, but then something historical happened.
After 50 years, Fidel Castro announced his resignation as president of Cuba. It almost slipped under my radar, so great was my glee at the prospect of yet another writing/publishing scam to bite into, but this is a day that will make it into the history books. It's a lot more important, and more deserving of note.
Fidel's brother, Raul Castro, has already been tapped to succeed him. Will it be more of the same? Maybe. But I'm hoping Raul has the good sense to open up Cuban society again, in a way Fidel couldn't or wouldn't, and do away with Fidel's iron-fist, jail-the-dissidents-and-homosexuals bullshit. Batista, Castro...Cuba deserves a breather after all that.
