Halloween Shopping

kelliwithani82 and I went Halloween costume shopping today (or yesterday, looking at the clock) at Halloween Adventure. I don't know what it is about Halloween, but when it comes to deciding what to dress as, I always draw a blank. It's like all creativity goes out the window.

This year was no different. sarahlangan recommended Kelli and I go as Gomez and Morticia Addams. I thought that was a cute idea, but as you can see, the Gomez costume turned out to be pretty lame. It's just a cheap, fake pinstripe suit, not all that different from the one they sell as a gangster suit. It doesn't even come with a fake mustache (which I guess I wouldn't need) or a fake cigar. Plus, there were no Morticia costumes to be found. (There was a nice Lily Munster constume, but no Herman. I was beginning to sense a pattern.) Anyway, we scrapped the Addams Family idea and kept browsing.

Turns out it was a good thing we did, because we found the perfect costumes! We get to keep a theme, like being Gomez and Morticia, but with an added level of funny. And sexiness. Sexy fun!

I won't reveal what the costumes are, not yet. We'll be seeing some of you at a costume party this Saturday night and don't want to ruin the surprise. Afterward, though, if someone takes a picture, I'll see if Kelli doesn't mind me sharing it here.

And The Winner Is...

In the great race for early cancellation in the 2007-2008 TV season, the winner is -- unsurprisingly -- Viva Laughlin! CBS canceled the casino-based musical drama after two episodes.

The article I linked to mentions there was actually a previous cancellation, making Laughlin the second show to go belly up this season. The first was a show called Online Nation on The CW, featuring teens talking about what's cool online, and after doing a little digging I discovered it ostensibly aired Sundays at 7:30 PM, but I've decided it doesn't count because I've never even heard of it. That's how the TV Nerd rolls.

However, it turns out the exclusion of Online Nation doesn't matter. Viva Laughlin is indeed the second show of the 2007-2008 season to get the axe after all. What was the first? Fox's New Amsterdam, about an immortal NYPD officer. Intended as a midseason replacement, it didn't even make it to midseason before it was scrapped. So, technically, the first canceled series of the season never even made it onto the air!

The countdown for Caveman and Moonlight continues. I think it's only a matter of time.
