The Bram Stoker Award nominations for works published in 2006 have been announced.

Hidden behind cut for the uninterestedCollapse )

Noticeably absent from the list is my story "Toad Lily" from Cemetery Dance. Alas, despite strong scuttlebutt on the street that hinted otherwise, my bridesmaid status will continue for another year. I guess I'll just have to work harder to earn the nomination. Still, my thanks go to everyone who read and enjoyed "Toad Lily".

Big congratulations and good luck to all the nominees! I'm voting for sarahlangan in EVERY category!

The Birthday Haul [Feb. 18th, 2007|09:20 pm]
International Bon Vivant and Raconteur
My birthday get-together Friday night was extremely fun, and as always, my friends came through with some wonderful gifts:

+ Fangoria's 101 Best Horror Movies You've Never Seen (I bet I've seen quite a few of the movies in this book, actually, but it's got Amanda Donohoe as the snake lady from Lair of the White Worm on the cover, and you can't beat that!)

+ John Cuneo's funny-erotic art book nEuROTIC

+ a bottle of Chivas Regal 12-year-old scotch

+ a bottle of Rustico bubbly

+ Valentine's candies that say things like "True Love" and "My Baby" on them

+ a Regal Cinemas gift certificate so I can stop whining about how I never get to go to the movies because they're so expensive

+ a custom-made t-shirt that says "Stay Tight" on the front (a line from my story "Comeback") and a sexy picture of Mia Kirshner on the back -- all inside jokes

+ a million drinks I didn't have to pay for (at least until the hangover the next morning)

Yay birthday haul!
