My friend Jeff and I look nothing alike. We both have dark hair and glasses, but other than that we don't look like each other at all. I have a goatee. He doesn't. We don't even do the same kind of work. He's a teacher. I'm a writer.
A few months ago, we were at a mutual friend's birthday party, where we met our friend's friend Marisa. Marisa is an actress, and thus is very outgoing. She's also attractive and fun. Jeff liked her a lot and asked our friend to set them up.
So he gets her phone number and calls her, and she says, "You're a writer, right?"
He tells her no, he's a teacher. They decide to get together on a date. When he shows up, she says, "Oh, you shaved. I didn't recognize you without your goatee."
Apparently the evening didn't get any better after that.
I'm pretty sure this is the first time someone went on a date with me without my being there.
