Bram Stoker Award Stuff

I'm excited to see my story "Under the Skin" advancing up the list of Stoker-recommended short stories this year. Right now I'm tied for third place with Clive Barker's "Haeckel's Tale", a standing that will definitely land me a spot on the Preliminary Ballot. (The Stokers are a three-step process. The Prelim is the middle step between the free-for-all recommending of stories and the Final Ballot of actual nominees. The Prelim includes the top ten recommended stories of the year.)

I've been on the Prelim three times before, for the stories "The Dead Stay Dead", "The Jew of Prague" and "Go", but like a big ol' loser I've yet to advance from there to the Final Ballot. I'm really hoping this will be the year I become an actual Bram Stoker Award nominee. Even if the odds of winning against the likes of Barker, Chuck Palahniuk and Gary Braunbeck are slim at best, the honor of a nomination alone would make me a happy camper.

So if anybody found a genie in a bottle and is having a hard time coming up with a third wish...
