True Blood
Oh, True Blood, how I've missed you! Watching tonight's second season premiere reminded me why you're one of my new favorite shows -- you just don't stop with the crazy!

Crazy awesome, that is. Vampires, dungeons, shape-shifting thieves forced to have sex with the lady of the house (hot!), aristocrats smacking their butlers, vibrating snake women...the list of awesome never ends!

Seriously, I can't believe how many seeds planted in the first season are blooming now -- far more plot points than I remembered, actually.

And, as I suspected would happen last season, crazy teenage vampire Jessica is fast becoming my new favorite character!

Still, what is up with the big, metal Conan wheel? Maybe "Conan wheel" will be this season's "werecollie" for me.

I didn't see the episode - did they explain anything about the freaky magic vibrating pig? I MUST KNOW ABOUT THE PIG!

I wish I had HBO. Instead I have to wait for them to be out on DVD...unless they are coming out on Hulu. Hmm...

Sorry, Nick, but I do not understand the love for this show. It's a trailer-trash soap opera starring broody, world-weary vampires, the "tough chick" who ain't, and a host of other cliches. Bleh.

I'm so meh about vampires, but this season looks like it's really going to bring the awesome (not that last season wasn't good, BUT this season perks my interest way more)! Yay!!

Is that the wheel from LOST?

No, the wheel from Lost is at least a true, honest to God, wooden donkey wheel. I don't know what to call this one, other than Conan wheel!

I found myself loving the new episode--except for every second that Sookie and Bill were together on screen. I am increasingly hostile to the show as a paranormal romance while continuing to be enthralled by its dead-on evocation of an almost-but-not-quite postracial South and its achievements as jam-up horrorshow entertainment. I find every single character absolutely believable. Even Sookie and Bill, about whom I could care less.

I don't mind the romance right now, and I especially like it when it's played for comedy, like with Jessica's intrusion.
